I have bought another VW412! It’s an import from California and so is virtually rust-free, despite being over 40 years old. More details on My Cars page.
I went to the VW Festival at Harewood House, Leeds, on 19th August. Pictures can be seen from my events page. I have also had the wheels blast-cleaned and powder-coated in silver and shod with new Michelin XZX tyres for my Variant project car.

The big news for June 2011 is of moving my Variant project car to my new garage in Lincolnshire. I hired a flat-bed transporter, the weather was kind and the transit went well.
I went to Stanford Hall on 1st May, this year included a special celebration marking 50 years since the introduction of the VW Type 3. Pictures can be seen from my events page.

There’s a new link on my Railway interest page to an auction of the largest and most complete Tinplate O-gauge Train Collection in the world.
I’ve added a seasonal picture on My Cars page and have added a new link on my Curiosties page.
I recently came across a time-lapse video showing the replacement of a street tram junction in San Fransisco which is well worth watching. There is a link to it from my Railway interest page.
On 30th October 2010 the first passenger train on the rebuilt Welsh Highland Railway arrived in Porthmadog. I have a link to a BBC News article about the event on my Railway interest page.
The experiment to compare data transfer rates using broadband and the traditional carrier pigeon has been repeated with predictable results. There’s a new link on my Curiosities page.
After failing its MOT in February, my Beetle has awaited my attention for far too long. The impetus to get it sorted out was the realisation that the Crich Beetle Drive was coming up. You can see the results on my events page. Also from that page can be seen pictures from this year’s Kent Farm Fest and the Historic Volkswagen Club AGM at Swithland, Leicestershire. Whilst down in Kent, I also managed some work on my Variant.
I’ve updated my Site info page with a revised paragraph about the types of browser you are using to view this site. I had been quoting industrial figures which may not have been so appropriate for you.
Life seems to have been “on hold” whilst I’ve been trying to move house – despite all the positive talk (spin), the market is still very, very slow. In the meantime I’ve been laying plans and have written up my railway modelling interests. These pages can also be reached from my Railway interest page.
I found another classic British Rail advert on YouTube and have added it to my Railway interest page.
I added a little festive spirit in the lead up to Christmas and the New Year.
I have refurbished the pedal subframe for my Variant project.

Following information received from one of my readers, I added a new page on Volkswagen’s development of a prototype Type 4 five-door Variant, the EA 240 Project. You can read about it on my Variant conversion project pages.
I added a new page on electrics on my Variant conversion project pages. This sets out how I’m coping with all the extra accessories and additions. I also identified some errors in coding when I checked my pages in Apple’s Safari browser, which I have corrected.
I had to replace my modem again. I therefore updated my page on modems and telephone lines.
